Louisiana-born soprano Cadie J. Bryan recently made a star turn as Milada in Smetana’s Dalibor at Bard Summerscape, where critics praised her “radiant tone and nuanced singing” and “stage-commanding performance.”
Bryan’s 2025-2026 season includes her first contract at The Metropolitan Opera, covering the leading role of Sarah Kavalier in The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay; a return to The Atlanta Opera as Woglinde in Götterdämmerung; her role debut as Nedda in Pagliacci with Piedmont Opera; and Laurey in Oklahoma! with Pensacola Opera.
She began the 2024-2025 season in a return to Atlanta Opera, singing Musetta in the company site-specific production of La bohème. She bowed in the Santa Fe Symphony’s performances of Handel’s Messiah, joined Andrea Bocelli for performances in Napa Valley, and debuted with North Carolina Opera, returning to the central role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro.
The autumn of 2023 brought her New Orleans Opera debut as Susanna in Chas Rader-Shieber’s new production of Mozart's timeless classic, followed by an engagement with the New York Philharmonic, covering the role of Tovah Odesska in the premiere of Émigré. The spring of 2024 also featured tour dates alongside celebrated Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, performing as soprano soloist in eight concerts across the United States. During the summer, she returned to Santa Fe Opera as Giannetta in L'elisir d'amore, also covering Zerlina in Don Giovanni.
Previous operatic engagements for Cadie Bryan include Addie Mills in the west coast premiere of Ricky Ian Gordon’s The House Without a Christmas Tree with Opera Las Vegas, the title role in Pelléas et Mélisande (cover) for Santa Fe Opera, Clarine in Rameau's Platée and Prilepa in Pique Dame with Des Moines Metro Opera, and Woglinde in Tomer Zvulun's new production of Das Rheingold with Atlanta Opera. A graduate of Arizona Opera’s Marion Roose Pullin Studio, she has sung many mainstage roles with the company, ranging from Mozart (Susanna/Le nozze di Figaro, Despina/Così fan tutte) and Puccini (Musetta in La bohème) to contemporary works (Maria/The Sound of Music, Bess/Riders of the Purple Sage, Lucy/Fellow Travelers, Chan Parker/Charlie Parker’s Yardbird).
Cadie is an alumna of Ravinia’s Steans Institute for singers, where she studied and performed in a variety of art song and Lieder recitals with world-renowned pianists and coaches. She has also appeared in concert with The Dallas Opera for the Hart Institute for Women Conductors. The soprano received a Master of Music and a Performance Diploma from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music under the tutelage of soprano Heidi Grant Murphy and her Bachelor of Music from Louisiana State University with baritone Dennis Jesse.
